Anthony (Tony) Sciuva is a third-year osteopathic medical student (OMS III) at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – South Georgia campus located in Moultrie, GA. While being born in Ohio, Tony was raised in a small rural town in western South Carolina, Campobello. He is one of three children with an older brother and younger sister, James and Richelle respectively. His mother and father are James and Margaret Sciuva.
Tony attended undergraduate at the United States Military Academy at West Point and received a degree in Systems Engineering. Throughout his time at the academy, he pursued various opportunities through intramural sports, military activities, and academic rigors. Following undergrad, he served in the active duty military for over seven years as an Armor officer with a specialty in tanks specifically. He was stationed at multiple installations throughout the US while serving in a myriad of duty positions. While serving, he met his wife of over five years, Destiny, while stationed at Fort Hood, TX. He was also able to obtain a Masters in Healthcare Administration (MHA) from Purdue University Global while still on active duty. As he continued on his military journey, the passion for medicine had never left his mind as he continued to find ways of shadowing in various emergency departments during his tenure in the military. His passion which was supported eagerly by Destiny allowed him to apply to medical school, become accepted, and transition to an active reserve role in a medical position.
Tony and Destiny are both embarking on their medical journey together in Moultrie pursuing osteopathic medicine along with their six pets: three dogs, one cat, and two leopard geckos. Tony’s hobbies include working out, trying new foods, spending time with family, playing sports, and checking out new places. Although medical school keeps him quite busy, he and Destiny try to get out and explore when they have free time in their schedules. Recently, Destiny and Tony started a new podcast called “Marriage, Medicine, and Mindfulness” posted on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Anchor. Throughout their journey, they have pushed one another to be better and continue pursuing their passions together in the hopes that they will both be able to match together in their various chosen specialties. As Tony continues to grow personally and professionally, he recognizes the importance of teamwork, mentorship, and serving others and is willing to always help out those in need.
